Caltrans will be hosting a webinar featuring Prof. Mosalam on March 12, 2025. He will be discussing the how Bridge Rapid Assessment Center for Extreme Events (BRACE2) project uses state-of-the art physics-based and data-driven simulations, communication, and sensing to provide real-time assessment of the structural condition of the monitored bridges immediately following an earthquake. The BRACE2 platform is the first of its kind, and its adoption by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) marks a significant advancement towards the realization of structural health monitoring. The STAIRLab’s open-source physics-based and data-driven computational engines are key components of the BRACE2 platform.
BRACE2 is used to develop a useful tool for Caltrans to monitor and assess bridge damages. This tool can be used to inform decisions concerning emergency responses during a seismic event and can also be used to improve Caltrans bridge design practice.
The webinar will be part of Caltrans’ Research Connection series. You can register to attend the webinar using this link.
