Claudio M. Perez

PhD Candidate, Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Materials, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Subject areas

Computational mechanics, Digital twin, finite element method, Structural health monitoring

Research

Claudio M. Perez is a PhD student specializing in scientific computing. His research focuses on computational mechanics and structural health monitoring, with a particular interest in differentiable computing.

As a core member of the STAIRLab, Claudio has designed the computational backend and curated the software ecosystem employed by the research lab to execute large-scale, AI-powered regional models of civil infrastructure.

Claudio is currently leading the Bridge Rapid Assessment Center for Extreme Events project, for which he has designed the infrastructure resilience engine (IRiE). He is also the active maintainer of the sees Python package for nonlinear finite element analysis.
